1. Why is self-confidence important for a small business owner?

As a small business owner you are the face of your company. Exuding confidence whether you have it or not, is essential to your success. So – what’s the secret to exuding confidence no matter what? Read to the end – and find out! In the meantime, read on to learn what the indicators of confidence are….

2. What are the attributes of a confident person?

A confident business person makes eye contact, do what they say they’re going to do, and give a strong handshake. They take excellent care of themselves physically and hold their boundaries without fail. They smile frequently and easily and truly exude their confidence.

3. Educate yourself and GET a COACH!

Doing your homework inherently engenders confidence. You exude power even without speaking when you arrive at meetings prepared, certain of your goals and how to negotiate.  It’s very important to keep a network of supportive people around you–especially other business owners. Having community and relationships will improve confidence primarily because it keeps your vault of resources full! Having a coach to provide feedback is a confidence booster. Everyone needs someone unbiased to bounce ideas off of, to help them through hard times, and give encouragement when it’s needed. Continuing education and training can also help build confidence as you become more savvy in different areas of your business. 4. Dress for Success – does that  really matter for a small business owner?

YES!  You make an impression either consciously or unconsciously every moment of every day.  Not only will you feel better about yourself when you dress nicely, others will see you as successful and confident and ready to take on the world.

5. Exercise improves confidence

Daily exercise is very important for any business owner. It probably feels like there are not enough hours in the day. But the secret sauce is that daily exercise not only improves our mood but it also makes us more productive so we get more done in less time!

6. Grooming helps a business person feel more confident.

Keeping organized and clean will greatly impact the amount of clutter in your mind. This can overlap with “me time” (see below) – take time to pamper yourself and keep yourself and your environment clean.  Try it, you will think more clearly. Clear your desk. If your desk gets messy the world can quickly turn to chaos. Having an organized desk will help maintain a calm environment so you can think clearly.

7. Should I be working instead of relaxing?

Should-ing on yourself is not productive or healthy!  We all need scheduled white space in our calendars. That means a little “me-time” every day. This “me-time” is your opportunity to integrate your own thinking and recalibrate so you can continue to be an amazing creator. Relaxing can include a 5 minute meditation, a massage, a bath or even a walk with some nice music.

8. What is the story on celebrating my own achievements?

Celebrating your wins big and small is critical to growing and maintaining your confidence in every area of life. If you don’t make time to enjoy your success, you might end up feeling burned out. Develop a habit of making a list of all that you’ve accomplished on a daily basis. Since you are your own boss, you are also the one holding yourself accountable! Make sure to pick yourself up frequently with pats on the back.
